COLOR TEMPERATURE VISUALIZER

TempCheck 1.0

The CamWise White Balance Visualizer helps you see how different light sources appear under various camera white balance settings—just like they would in-camera. Each swatch above represents a fixed light source (like tungsten, daylight, or shade) and shifts in color as you move the white balance slider.

Tip: Use this tool to help choose gels, set white balance manually, or teach clients and teammates how lighting color and WB interact in real life.

White Balance Visualizer

This tool is designed to offer a fast, intuitive way to visualize how color temperature and white balance interact on set or in post—not to provide exact measurements. It’s a helpful guide for training your eye, prepping for shoots, or explaining concepts to clients and collaborators.

Note: This tool is for visualization only and should not replace a color meter or professional lighting workflow.

Color temperature is measured in degrees Kelvin (K). Lower values (like 3200K) appear warm and orange; higher values (like 8000K) appear cool and blue. Your camera’s white balance setting aims to neutralize these tones—ideally matching the source temperature so whites appear white. But creative mismatches can be used to shift mood and tone intentionally.

Frequently Asked Questions

This tool simulates the blue-orange color axis caused by mismatched white balance and color temperature. If you're seeing green or magenta casts on set, it’s likely due to tint shifts in your lights or sensor, which go beyond simple Kelvin adjustments. For those, you'll need tools with green/magenta tint correction.

Not exactly. While it shows the color shift caused by different white balance settings, remember that shooting RAW preserves all color data, and white balance can be changed non-destructively in post. What you see in-camera while shooting RAW is just a preview based on the current WB setting.
